A Shootout at The Lilliflora Farmhouse Photo Studio

Yesterday, I participated in a shootout hosted by Bare Feet Full Hearts, and it was the best one I’ve ever attended. The highlight was shooting at the newly opened rental photo studio, The Lilliflora Farmhouse in Anna, TX. I had wanted to shoot there for months but hadn't found the time until now.

In most other shootouts, usually the host photographer leads the shoot while everyone else gathers around, making it difficult to find perfect angles or implement our own ideas for posing and directing models. But thanks to Karissa Dohrmann, the amazing photographer behind Bare Feet Full Hearts, this shootout was so different. She styled multiple models and model families, allowing each photographer to direct the models and capture unique images. The studio is spacious both inside and out, giving us the opportunity to create a wide variety of beautiful images that truly make my heart happy. Optionally, if anyone is tired of shooting, we can also choose to watch other photographers shoot and learn from each other.

I would love to share some of my favorite images took at this shootout and again I would like to give a huge shoutout to Bare Feet Full Hearts and The Lilliflora Farmhouse.

Lifestyle Family Photography inside and outside of The Lilliflora Farmhouse

The first room in the house features a beautiful antique sofa that I absolutely adore. It’s the perfect shade of antique green that I’ve always dreamed of. The surrounding decor makes this setting ideal for photographing a large family with multiple children.

I can see how the owner of Lilliflora Farmhouse pay so much attention to details about all the decors around: the flowers, the mirrors, the paintings, the lamp, the curtain, the rug, to just name a few.

Before I went to Lilliflora Farmhouse, I was intrigued by the unique inside beauty; while I was there, I found that the outside is equally gorgeous.

Both the front and and the back sides of Lilliflora are worth photographing. It has chairs and stairs to help pose parents and kids in various ways.

let’s adventure into the beautiful backyard.

Lucky enough, I brought my 135mm lens with me on the day of shootout. Here comes a few of my favorites.

Great appreciation also goes to his beautiful family. They were so patient with us photographers. Not only one. That’s eight of us. ^_^

Capturing some fun moments of our other models

The girl room and corridor in the second floor is also my favorite. Best place for taking portraits of little girls. I especially love the little antique vanity desk and little pearls and necklaces.

The backyard of the house has the rusty metal swing which is indeed an extra bonus of this rental space. I just want to say that I love everything about this place.

Sometimes when I deliver a session, I will include black and white versions of some of the photos. Enough contrast between the lights and darks will lead to a good black and white conversion. Let’s see how Lilliflora Farmhouse creates such magic.

I hope you enjoy hearing about my experience at The Lilliflora Farmhouse as much as I enjoyed being there. Although it's a one-hour drive from my home, I will definitely be returning. There are a few rooms I didn’t have time to explore yet, and I will save them for the next trip there.
